We are launching two new programs.
Men's Club on Monday's will run select Mondays in February and March. It is designed for the advanced skier that wants to go ski hard and fast and get those subtle tips that make a big difference. We will meet at 8:00 and ski to 12:00...you and your group decide if you need a break.

This is not your fathers ski lesson. No standing around, no drawn out feedback sessions, great skiing with great coaches. We'll do the talking on the chair or in short on snow sessions. The focus is lots of time on snow, simple thoughts and good skiers. Instructors will be top certified pros with years of experience. Hot feet and strong technical skills make for a great lesson experience. It's like a golf lesson, but not on the range. Your on the course, getting feedback on your technique and course management.

Women's Club on Wednesday works of the success of our Women's Seminars but without the extras. Just good skiing, great coaches and fun people. These lessons are open to Advanced and Intermediate skiers. Again we will start at 8:00 and run until noon. The program is run on the same premise as the men's club...minus the egos.

Come to every session or bounce in and out. Lessons can be purchased daily or in three packs.

These programs developed from conversations with skiers in the Gondola and on chair lifts. You designed it. For booking details visit our website and look for discounts for seasons pass holders.

Feel free to fire any questions or suggestions my way way.

Any thoughts on doing this for snowboarders too?

YES. So far in Snowboard the demand has been park and pipe lessons. This year we increased the time to an all day lesson. We felt the time content required more time.

If we start to see more demand in the upper level group lessons that would lead me to believe we have more interest in all mountain performance.

That's more or less what my private lessons with Laura Sjpblom are like. My brother-in-law just rode 9 straight 8-12 sessions with Abi Slingsby that echo your ad copy. Sounds like a great product for sticks or boards.

In my personal experience, once you ski the mountain like that it's oh-so hard to go back to being on your own. If someone told me 5 years ago I'd be spending so much on a private coach once I could ski at a higher level, I would have scoffed. Skiing the mountain like that is like riding a bike with your friends when you were a kid. The freedom , fluidity and camaraderie are priceless. There are some things in life that are expensive but really worth it. Another mastercard commercial is in there somewhere :)

Nelson - this sounds excellent. I would LOVE to attend. Too bad I can't swing getting the kids to school and hiring a babysitter for the little one to get out there. Maybe next year. GREAT idea - especially from a women's perspective. We love to ski fast, hard and have just as much fun as you guys! And we can always use professional instruction, feedback and tips. Wondering if other moms will run into this - getting the kids to school and getting there by 8am. Maybe pushing it back to 9am would allow for more flexibility in getting the kids to school?? Just a thought.

It would be a dealbreaker for most moms I would think. In my own world I can't make anything before 9 am without major impositions on those I know and love.

Yep, we looked at that, but thought the benefit of first tracks would be more draw. As an expecting father, I'm sure I will learn about the challenges of getting a kid moving.

Usually kids don't want to wear the hood thing, but carry it in your pocket just in case. If it's really cold once you get on there on the slopes, I'll bet you big money that'll change.

Hard to predict of course but history is on your side. Be glad you didn't plan a trip around opening day at Vail today. They've got only one run open.

Temps have been great for snowmaking and we definitely have more snow this year than we had last year. I wouldn't worry, we tend to get dumped on in December. Here's a good article about late starts and how the season turns out.

I have been checking the cameras lately, and there does not appear to be alot of snow on the mountain, and not much in the forecast? Getting nervous about our trip out December 18th. Anything to worry about?

I agree with the balaclava. If your boys are going to wear helmets, which they should, then you can buy a nice under helmet hat/balaclava, a must in Steamboat. The key to keeping warm on the mountain is layers. (and toe warmers!)

I ski with my boys every January in Steamboat (now 10 & 8) and they wear the whole kit every day since they stay up top most the whole day ... base layer top and bottom, fleece top (& bottom if it's Arctic cold), and down jacket. They used to wear...
