Couple years ago when Interwest frist bought Steamboat I had heard talk that they were trying to make more beginner friendly trails. The talk then was about possibly bulldozing the tress between Boulevard and Main Drag and making it one big trail. Has this happened, will it happen or not going to happen?
im guessing the terrain park was put on headwall for a couple of reasons..one , because basher wasnt open. and two it really does wet the appetite when us tourists are watching the cam....
makes note to self not to be silly and try and jump anything ...no your limits .
I believe that the terrain park is temporary until Bashor opens up. This will hopefully be soon. As for trail changes, I am still hoping that Steamboat put in the 2nd phase of the Pioneer Ridge expansion. I have also heard that Boulevard and Main Drag will be merged together next summer. There is rumor that Thunderhead High-Speed Quad will become a High Speed Six Seater. The old Thunderhead would be moved and shortened to replace Elkhead Lift. Bashor Lift may be lengthened to the Thunderhead Lodge but I think that is less likely.
The terrain park on headwall is the early season park, once there's enough snow in Bashor it will be there. It would be nice to have a mini park at the base, but we'll see if that happens.
One change this summer is the removal of beetle kill trees. In parts of the lower mountain, some trees were removed for safety and that opens up some space. I know Rough Rider Basin lost a lot of trees

It was discussed on the old forum last year. When they started looking at doing this, they found one or more very large rocks in the area between the two that changed a very easy job into a very difficult one. That is why that project was put on a back burner for a while
Thought I'd post an update after we return. Promontory is a hike to the hill but we found we could carry our skis slightly up hill and get to the access run down to the gondola/Christy Peak Express. After a bit of searching, we also found a way to s…
