Putting my trip together for January and thinking about taking the 2:30pm departure out of the 'boat. Would love to get a few hours in if there is time. Flying out of Hayden. Anyone know when the lifts usually start and has anyone tried skiing some on the same day as leavving?
Let me add we have a rental car so barring a real storm the drive to the airport shouldnt be more than 30mins.
Signed,
Greedy
Yes, it is entirely possible to get in several runs before a 2:30 departure. If you're packed and ready to go you can probably ski until 11:30 or so, change and still make it to the airport by 12:30. If you are taking a shuttle out to the airport, you probably need to check the shuttle times, but I'd bet you can at least get in a couple of hours skiing before the shuttle pick-up.
It is fine unless there is a big dump that day. That can cause come trafiic delays but unless its really stormning, no worries provided you have everything packed and ready to load.
Last year the gondola and the Christy Six started loading folks at 8:30am. You could also consider getting a ticket for "first tracks" and loading about a half hour earlier, guaranteeing that you get the most runs possible on your last day.
Before I started bringing my kids and exponentially increased my travel stress, I always managed to get a few runs in prior to departure. Even if I only went on a single Heavenly Daze-Jess's Cut Off- See Me run down to the base. We always stayed then at Sheraton as a couple so everything was easier. Now we say our goodbyes the day before.
Thanks! It is still better than anything you get in North Carolina. I'm hoping you have some late dumps as well. Last year was amazing! But either way we'll have a good time! I called Steamboat Snowmobile and they sounded optomistic about being able…
It will all depend on the weather the next few weeks. The snow fall has been on the thin side this season, but conditions are pretty good at the moment. (Weird windy weather today, which has kept the lifts from opening.) If it warms up a lot, it may…
So coming to ski the last week of the season. Can't beat the ticket deal with Springalicious. We were there last year the week before the deal and had so much snow! It was awesome.Just curious how the snow fall has ended up this year compared to las…
Spring Forward!
It's that time of the year- our clocks more forward, weather is
unpredictable and the wind tends to move a little faster. All three
happened this morning as skiers in Steamboat slept in. Not sure if it
was the time change or a Bud L…

Today is another perfect blue bird day here in the Boat. With the fresh snow that we received yesterday, the groomers were in great condition this morning. The perfect lines of corduroy are everywhere on the mountain, and it was hard to decide where…
WOW, what a day riding at Steamboat March 9th. 9:30 We went looking for Motos but found they were all covered
with 10" of powder. I know they now have a Snowbike with fat powder skis but I rode my new F6 instead.
We started on Pony Express because o…
