Need a little local insight on rental info for my 10 year old who'll be Boarding for the first time. We'll be staying on mountain but are thinking about heading into town and getting him geared at OneStopSkiShop. Any insight on these folks would be appreciated.
Thanks,
SoonerSkier
Hi. I just called One Stop and they do offer a "junior boarder" rental package which includes board with bindings and boots for $15/day. I was so surprised that you would consider them for board rentals that I just had to call to check. I love them down there! John got my husband and myself into some great-fitting ski boots late last season. We're both instructors here, so a good fit is vital, and John succeeded! And you know, everyone who I have had any communication with down there has been super-friendly and helpful. Check out their website: www.onestopskishop.net to get some discounts for early, online rentals.
Hope you have a great visit!
Hi-
Thank you for the good information. Just happend upon their website and liked what we saw but usually like to try and get some firsthand insight as well.
Defintely looking forward to being there in just a few weeks. The only problem is we never want to leave. :)
One Stop are great, John and Pete are not only amazing boot fitters but great people and will go out of their way to help you with anything......highly recommended!
I can not too highly recommend One Stop and John. While you are picking up a board rental for your daughter you should get custom foot beds made. John made some for me a couple years ago and the difference in comfort was amazing!
Right in Gondy square is Powdertools. I have always had good luck with them and if you ever need to change anything out, get an adjustment, they are right there. megan
OneStopSkiShop is a class act. Another place I use downtown is Steamboat Ski and Bike Care. Just about anywhere you go will give you good results. If you use a shop on the hill, you will be able to get adjustments while skiing but you will probably pay a bit more.
For renting gear we use Blacktie also. They come to your door to drop off and pick up when you are done. If you want to change any gear during your stay just give them a call and tell them what time to be at your condo and they show up. Great service always. The equipment has always been in good shape. Last year my skis needed waxing half way through the week, I gave them a call at lunch, they said they would be over at 5 o'clock with another pair of freshly waxed skis. (and they showed up) We have used them for 3 or 4 seasons now. But I also love One Stop too. Bought my last pair of boots there 3 years ago. The folks there are great. Best boot fitting session I have ever had. Still love the boots. Would highly recommend them for a purchase of gear.
I rented boots and a board for my 5 year old boy at Powder Tools which is a snowboard only shop right at the base area complex. They were great. It is staffed by age appropriate riders who talked to my little guy just like he was one of them. That made all the difference. He left the shop not only with the gear but with the real rider attitude totally dialed in. That alone was worth the visit.
Any experience with rentals from Ski Haus on Pine Grove Circle (Good, Bad, Ugly)? The package ski rates are quite a bit cheaper than the base shops but is the convenience worth the few extra $'s?
One Stop is the best! We ventured into town last year to try them out and we will go back to them from now on. We stay close to the gondola every year but I just love doing business with One Stop. I really like to feel at home and they deliver. I highly suggest a custom boot fit, and the hot cocoa! My boys love the dog too.
