I am looking for some advice on lessons. We usually make it out to Steamboat 2-3 times a year. I am an average skier (comfortable on blues, easy blacks, but dear Lord....no moguls...it's UGLY!!!) My 6 year old and I are coming out for Spring Break at the end of March. Normally I would just ski with my husband but as he is not coming I was thinking about taking advantage of having 2 days of skiing to myself (the rest of the time I will be skiing with my little dare devil). I don't want to take a private lesson but was thinking a group lesson one day would help. Thoughts??? Is it worth it??? Would I learn anything or just end up skiing the same things I would have skied by myself? I have not done a group lesson in 15 years. I would feel too guilty spending the money for a private when my husband is home working :) Thanks and I can't wait to get out there again.

I always take a lesson when i go out there. I am slightly average and I always learn something new. But I only ski once a year too. My skiing days are pretty much over now due to knee surgery but if I could ski I would be in a lesson...Have good time with your dare devil..I had one of those too years ago!! Now he is a great skier and boarder!!!!
Permalink Reply by Kimberly Butler on March 1, 2012 at 8:36am Speaking as someone who has worked in the ski industry for several years now, I was amazed a few years ago when I took some brush up lessons. It's so easy to get into our groove, that it's good to have a refresher now and then to help correct technique and maybe even show you some new things, since you said you haven't done a group lesson in 15 years. Skis have changed tremendously in that time, and so have how you ride them. Hope you have a wonderful vacation!
Thanks for the input. I actually booked my lesson last night. I am very excited to hopefully improve on a few things. As we are lucky enought to get out to Steamboat 3 times this year, I am hoping that I see some improvment. Here's to powders days!!!
