Where? - terrain is pretty flat back there. The one expansion they have permitted and just need to put the lift in is north and adjacent to Pony Express.

There is a location to the east of Sunshine Bowl that is skied now has backcountry terrain. It is about 550' of vertical, about the same as Morningside, but over a shorter distance (i.e., a nicer overall grade). However, compare that to the Pioneer Ridge location - 1,885' of vertical. Pony has about 1,660'. This lift (Pioneer Ridge #1) was permitted by the Forest Service the sametime as Pony (Pioneer Ridge #2) and Morningside. Now I do not know if they eventually will lose the approval to build that lift, but there is a lot of bang for the buck there. It opens a lot of terrain, and may avoid having to go through an expensive permitting process. Bottom line, I foresee that the Pioneer Ridge lift will get built before any other expansion occurs.
