I'm sending my dad and brother with my 5 year old to go snowmobiling since they all love our jet ski's and four wheeler's. Any suggestions as to which was the best? The prices all seem about the same but sometimes there are subtle differences that make all the difference in a good fun time.
I have done Steamboat Snowmobile Tours twice. I did it twice, so I guess that says something. Lots of fun riding trails in lead-follow and riding free in a meadow up on Rabbit Ears Pass. Scheduling was sort of difficult as they need at least 3-4 sleds to do a session, but no other problems or complaints. Make sure they dress warm! :-D
We (hubby, me & 9yr daughter) did this last year up on Rabbit Ears Pass and loved it! Can't remember which company. I would suggest 2hr tour for your 5 yr old, as the passenger gets really cold. Use hand & toe warmer!!
A 5 year old may get quite cold on the snowmobile, though (the drivers are kept warm with heated handlebars and footwells), as kids (unless the top of their head is below the driver's chin - or something similar) have to hang on the back - might not be a lot of fun...
Saddleback Ranch does a snowmobile tour that is more user friendly for kids. You can add an hour tubing at the end. Also little ones can ride a mini snowmobile on their own around a circle. We ended up canceling due to the stellar sunshine-y weather we had last week. Couldn't possibly give up a groomer day for snowmobiling, although now as we prepare to leave tomorrow my 6 year old is whining that he missed his chance. There's always next year....
