I’m honored to be joining Steamboat Resort and the Straight Talk talk family for another season of sharing my love of skiing Steamboat to the world! As a born and raised Steamboat local, I take so much pride in my hometown and ski area, and I love getting to share my perspective of what I truly believe to be one of the most special places on Earth. I look forward to another season of sharing our blessed life in the Boat!
This morning, I had the privilege of being one of the first skiers down both Heavenly Daze and the newly opened Rudi’s run to Burgess Creek lift. The recent cold temperatures and daily snowfall have improved snow conditions immensely. This morning, I was greeted with my first corduroy groom topped off with a nice dusting of our finest Champagne Powder®.
After a solo run down Heavenly Daze, I made my way back up to the top to check out Rudi’s Run and even give White Out a try. To my surprise White Out was full of powder! It may not have had mid-season coverage, but the few weeds sticking through the snow did not slow down any of the excited skiers searching for first tracks. White Out is a run I don’t often venture to, so I’m proud to say it was one of my first runs of the season! My fellow bump-skiing friends would be proud!
Additionally, there were great little powder hits all along the side of Rudi’s Run. As I stopped to take pictures, I was welcomed by hoots and hollers of passers by enjoying the goods that the newly opened run had to offer.
With the opening of the new lift and terrain, plus the recent snowfall, it’s surely shaping up to be ski season in Steamboat! I rode the gondola with a couple of ladies who are here with the Crescent Ski Council. They make up a group of over 200 skiers from six states in the southeast. They also made me aware of a group of American Airlines skiers here, too. Welcome all to Steamboat, and I hope you have a wonderful stay and week of skiing!
Please remember our safety and responsibility of skiing and riding. Be aware and be respectful to those around you.
