It’s another powder day in the Boat!  OK, so it’s not another deep one out there, but it is most certainly a perfect powder touch up on the mountain.  At this point it seems like it has been snowing for weeks straight, and the conditions are absolutely mid-winter perfect out there and the skiing is simply awesome.  Mother Nature left us a few more inches last night just adding a little bit to the multiple feet we have received over the last couple of weeks.  This storm isn’t done either, we still have more coming tonight!  The mountain was very quiet today and it’s a great day to get out for some fresh turns.

THE WEATHER

Light snow continues this morning and fairly cold temperatures the higher on the mountain you go.  It’s a good day for low light lenses so you can see in the flat light conditions to hunt out that powder.  The wind is calm and if you bundle up correctly it is a comfortable day to be on the mountain.

THE SNOW

The new snow is a good consistency today.  More on the fluffy side than not, and super easy to carve through.  The groomers had just enough snow on top to make some ripping fresh turns.  Because of the wind up high last night, the fresh snow is definitely a little deeper in the Pony Express area.  I didn’t get to ski much lower mountain today, but it looked like a few inches there as well.  Pony was skiing awesome with tons of fresh tracks left at 10am today and hardly anyone to be seen.  Get out and carve up all of this powder because there is more coming tomorrow!

THE STRAIGHT LINE

It’s a fine day to be skiing on Mt. Werner.  The crowds have really died down and tons of fresh tracks to be had in every direction.  As I mentioned earlier, I would point everyone to Pony for the best snow on the mountain.  No lift lines and fresh snow = a great day on the mountain.

Pick of the mountain today is Storm Face to Sunset:  a couple of fresh inches on top of the perfectly manicured corduroy added up to a winning combination today.

Be safe out there, and have a great day on the mountain!
