Steamboat, you are a magical place every day of the year.
I have just returned to Steamboat after chasing a big storm to another part of the country and skiing a resort I have always wanted to go to. On this trip, it snowed feet upon feet of snow, the mountain was amazing and the food was exceptional. While it was an unforgettable adventure, visiting another resort reminded me of all the reasons that Steamboat is one of the greatest ski towns on earth.
Yesterday’s storm brought tons of fresh powder to the Yampa Valley leaving everyone with huge powder grins. While other ski resorts may get some big storms that roll through occassionally, Steamboat is a place that gets them very often, even in a low snow year. It is such a blessing in Steamboat that we get our slopes refreshed constantly with copious amounts of Champagne Powder offering us fresh tracks for days and even weeks. Not to mention the quality of all that snow that comes in — wow is it tasty.
We have so much terrain in Steamboat to explore and every inch of this place can be skied. There are so many twists and turns through our famous trees, which spread everyone out and give us endless powder stashes to play in. We also have tons of groomer options here that can keep you busy all day with consistent fall lines covered in manicured corduroy begging to be carved up.
Steamboat also has an incredible network of high-speed lifts allowing skiers and riders to get more laps in than your legs are comfortable with. Our lifts always open right on schedule and our operations team keeps them running smoothly and safely every day of the season.
Last, it is amazing the effect that the people of Steamboat have on this place. So many friendly and fun folks out there give this town a ton of positive flavor that is second to none. It is easy to be happy when spending time in the paradise of the Yampa Valley no matter if you are a longtime local or a first-time visitor. What a great place we get to play in!
Today’s conditions on the mountain are A+. The sun is shining brightly under a blue bird Colorado sky making the snow sparkle in every direction. The groomers are as soft as it gets, allowing skiers and riders to carve effortlessly into the corduroy laid down perfectly on so much of the mountain today. There are still plenty of freshies to be found on the runs and in the trees and the cold temperatures are preserving the quality of the new snow. No matter where you go on the mountain today, it is going to be sweet. I appreciated the magic of Steamboat in every turn today. This place is simply awesome.
Pick of the mountain today is Longhorn — groomed to perfection with very soft snow conditions made it a nice morning treat.
It is a bit chilly on the mountain, so dress warmly but don’t miss this perfect day on the slopes! See you on the mountain.
